SG50 Gift of Books

News and Events

In celebration of Singapore’s Golden Jubilee, the National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore will be presenting 10,300 books to 40 libraries in various countries and regions under its SG50 Gift of Books project in 2015. These countries include Australia, China, India, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the ASEAN countries. Officials and representatives from Singapore’s Overseas Missions will present up to 300 books to each library.

SG50 Gift of Books’ first stop is the Republic of India on 9 February 2015, where Mrs Mary Tan, wife of President Tony Tan, presented the books to the National Library of India.

The SG50 Gift of Books features Singapore authors, and also creates greater awareness of our nation’s unique heritage and cityscape. Titles span across topics on Singapore’s architecture, biodiversity, economic development, history, literature, and the arts and culture. Several of the receiving libraries will be showcasing these books for a month to mark Singapore’s 50th anniversary.
